Jesinta Franklin’s best beauty hacks for winter

She’s one of the country’s top models, with a lit-from-within-glow and dewy complexion we’d kill for at The House of Wellness, so when Jesinta Franklin talks beauty secrets, we listen!

Particularly as we head into the harsh winter months when the weather turns cool and humidity levels drop, making keeping skin hydrated even more difficult than usual.

For stunning TV host and model Jesinta, who’s worked with some of the best make-up artists around, the secret to mega-watt beauty is to look after your skin, the base for all beauty looks.

“I have quite a public career, I’m on show a lot of the time and so looking after myself is a really big part of my life,” says the Olay Total Effects brand ambassador.

“For me having beautiful glowing healthy skin is really important. I wear a lot of make-up, I’m on TV a lot, I’m working under lights, so I really have to take special care of my skin.

“And for me that’s about keeping things simple and sticking to a routine. I have a regime I stick to no matter what. It doesn’t matter if I’m travelling, if I’m interstate or overseas or whether I have a late night at work, or on the dance floor!”

The model says “without fail” she removes her make-up before bed, relying on Olay Total Effects foaming cleanser. “Sometimes I double cleanse if I’m wearing a lot of makeup. If you really want to purify and clean your pores, that works.”

In the morning it’s Olay Eyes Deep Hydrating Gel to nourish and wake up her eyes followed by Olay Total Effects Day Cream with SPF 15.

“I like the day cream in the gentle formula,” she explains. “The new formulation has 50 per cent more vitamin E, some really great antioxidants and is good for anti-ageing as well. I know I’m only 26 but you have to start thinking about prevention early and so this works well for me.

At night she repeats the same regime but replaces the day cream with the Total Effects Night Cream.

“Especially in the cooler months my skin becomes a little more dehydrated and so I actually apply two layers of this, to help my skin to repair and restore itself. It’s important to use a different cream from day to night.”

And Jesinta’s final tip? Remember to find balance in your life. 

“I think for me being healthy is looking at the whole picture,” she smiles. “Making sure you have rest, that you’re looking after yourself – not only the physical but also the mental side. Exercise, eat healthily and of course have fun, I think that’s part of being healthy too!”
