Help your skin glow: the key ingredients to boost your skincare routine

Nutritionist Shelley McKenzie shares her secrets to getting glow-from-within-gorgeous, with the help of a few special ingredients.

As seen on House of Wellness TV, Melbourne-based nutritionist and naturopath Shelley McKenzie was 24 and working as a personal trainer, when she faced her own health storm.

“I’d always been active but I wasn’t living my healthiest life,” the founder of Freedom Wellness says.

“When I was diagnosed with a health condition I started using myself as a guinea pig and playing around with my diet.

“I felt better almost immediately and I wanted to share this new found sense of wellbeing.

“I began studying nutritional medicine and then naturopathy so I could help others live a happy, healthy and well balanced life.”

Shelley’s simple recipe for glowing skin

Shelley soon discovered quick and easy ways to nourish her body with essential ingredients – and even better, it tasted delicious.

She loves the positive impact good nutrition has on her skin.

One of Shelley’s favourite recipes for glowing skin is her frozen banana and berry smoothie bowl, made in just minutes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana (rich in antioxidants)
  • 1 cup of frozen berries (another great source of antioxidants)
  • 1 zucchini, chopped (high in Vitamin A and C)
  • ½ cup coconut water
  • 5 teaspoons Wanderlust Collagen Booster
  • Optional toppings: handful of granola, more berries or half a banana

Equipment:

  • High power blender (one that can make ice cream)
  • Bowls to serve
  • Spoons

Method:

Blend all ingredients together and spoon into bowls.

Add topping if desired.

“There’s something about a smoothie bowl and eating it mindfully and slowly – you’re more engaged with your food,” Shelley says.

“It’s good for you, inside and out.”

Who knew your daily beauty regimen could taste so good!

Quick and easy boost to skincare

Now a busy mum of two, as well as eating well, Shelley leans on Wanderlust Collagen Booster and Wanderlust Beauty Mushroom to complement her skincare routine.

“Both products are made with plant-based active ingredients with natural sources of vitamin C to support collagen production formation and antioxidants that protect against free radical damage and are easily mixed into water, juice or a smoothie,” she says.
