Is the ‘Nick Daicos’ the fresh fade you need for summer?

He’s one of the hottest names in the AFL, but Nick Daicos is also blazing a trail in the style stakes too. Here’s how to get his signature look.

With a signature look that’s turning heads both in the stands and on social media, Nick Daicos has become as much a style icon as he is a football superstar.

From his meticulously groomed locks to his sharp game-day attire, Nick’s influence is undeniable.

The Collingwood mid-fielder has been getting his locks trimmed and styled by celebrity stylist Joey Scandizzo for years.

Joey, who has worked with some of the biggest names in the business, says he gets requests for the iconic haircut, often referred to as the “Daicos,” on the regular.

What is the “Daicos” hairstyle?

“It’s characterised by a sharp V at the back, a skin fade through the sides, and a super short, super sharp finish,” Joey says.

How do you style it?

Joey, who has trimmed the tresses of celebs from Elle Macpherson and Paris Hilton through to Buddy Franklin, says styling the “Daicos” is simple.

“If you want the more wet, slick look with plenty of hold, I use the Slick Pomade,” Joey says.

“For a more matte look I use the Crafting Clay or the Sea Salt Spray for fine hair to thicken and give the style added texture.”

The Kings Domain Melbourne co-founder started using the brand’s styling products on Nick’s hair after cutting it.

Nick found his hair was holding up and looking sharp both on and off the field.

Nick’s go-to styling products

Nick’s favourite from the range is Slick Pomade No.6.

“100 per cent, it’s my number one,” Nick says.

“It gives me everything I need — hold and high shine. I love it.”

Nick says the pomade keeps his hair in place during intense matches, giving him the confidence to perform at his best.

Nick’s hair goals

Nick’s haircare routine is straightforward yet effective.

“I always like to keep my hair neat and tidy. It’s really important to always have the hair looking sharp and to have that edge — especially on game day,” he shares.

Nick is not alone in his dedication to grooming, and he playfully names his teammates who are known for spending the most time on their hair.

“Pendles (Scott Pendlebury), (Isaac) Quaynor and (Braydon) Maynard,” Nick laughs.
