Are carrots good for your eyesight?

Zoe Bingley-Pullin goes in search of the truth, looking into where the idea that carrots were good for sight came from and which other fresh foods are also good for your eyes.

As I kid I was lucky because I loved my vegetables. One veggie I wasn’t too fond of however was carrots. My parents used to try all sorts of tricks to get me to eat carrots, like telling me they improved my eye sight and night vision. But do they?

Humans actually can’t see in the dark very well at all, no matter what we eat, we’re not nocturnal, unlike rabbits, which can eat carrots and can see in the dark. But then again, so can owls and vampires and they certainly don’t eat carrots.

So where did this carrot and night vision thing come from?

Join Zoe as she goes in search of the truth, looking into the myths surrounding carrots and night vision and which other fresh foods are also good for your eyes, plus how you can strengthen the eye muscle to help curb eye disease.
