The key to Anna Heinrich’s healthy diet

Embracing a healthy lifestyle is important to Anna Heinrich, whose whirlwind schedule can see her doing everything from spending long days in court to filming TV series.

“For me, it’s always been about balance,” Anna, 32, says.

Known to TV audiences for appearances on the inaugural Australian series of The Bachelor and I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!, Anna continues to work as a criminal lawyer in addition to a variety of media commitments.

To ensure she has plenty of energy to tackle her day, Anna has become more aware of what she puts in her body.

“It’s about portions and making better, healthy choices,” she says.

Occasionally, she does intermittent fasting.

“I’m not super-strict on it, but I do intermittent fasting and try not to eat until about midday,” she says.

“But I don’t follow a strict diet. I think it’s always about balance and portion sizes.”

Her one weakness is indulging in family meals at her parents’ home.

Her mum, Judith, loves cooking, and the two have recently released a cookbook together called Jude’s Food.

“It was a really nice thing to do with my family,” Anna says. “It’s a collection of all the foods that we love.”

While chatting to The House of Wellness spring magazine, Anna also shared her usual day on a plate:

Breakfast

“When I wake up I have lemon and warm water to get the digestive system going and then I might have a coffee. I wait to about 11am to have my breakfast and I always have avocado and eggs. “

Lunch

“I might have a salad with a bit of protein in it, or I snack on carrots and hummus or have some crackers with tomato and avocado.”

Dinner

“I either have a vegetable stir-fry with tofu, or I might add some protein and have some meat with vegetables. I always try and have vegetables with my dinner.”

Sweet treat

“I’m a massive chocolate fan. I love dark chocolate and ice cream – Haagen-Dazs ice cream! My mum also makes some incredible Hungarian pancakes and a really good pavlova.”
