Welcoming Jacqui Felgate to The House of Wellness

As Jacqui Felgate joins The House of Wellness team, the TV presenter and journalist opens about her new role and her health and wellness goals.

Acclaimed journalist Jacqui Felgate has joined The House of Wellness TV show, where she will co-host alongside Luke Darcy, Jo Stanley and Luke Hines.

It is the first major TV role for the former Channel 7 presenter and sports reader since she left the network’s news team earlier this year after a decade.

In her new role on The House of Wellness TV show, Jacqui will also present a weekly health news round-up as well as stories and interviews.

“I’m looking forward to talking about things that really matter to me and my family,” Jacqui, 39, says.

“When it comes to your family, the most important thing is their health, and to be able to broadcast that and talk about that and involve people in that – it is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Wellness is what I want to do. I want to feel better in my job and at home and be less stressed.

Jacqui is also excited to be working alongside her co-hosts, adding that she has previously worked with former AFL star Luke Darcy on footy shows.

“He’s just one of those people who is so easy to get along with,” Jacqui says.

“I’m really looking forward to working with him as he’s such a genuine person.”

A new challenge and a change of pace

After a tough few years working weekends, long hours and covering the pandemic in-depth, Jacqui says she is excited to tackle a new challenge.

“After having such a stressful job for such a long time, I can’t wait to have some fun,” she says.

She is also relishing finding more balance in her life and spending more time with husband Michael and daughters Maddie, 9, and Georgia, 5 – taking them to Auskick games and horse riding.

“Wellness is what I want to do,” she says. “I want to feel better in my job and at home and be less stressed.

“I think we’ve all been so stressed over the last period and wellness to me is taking the time for yourself and your family.”

Jacqui has also been keeping busy maintaining her social presence on Instagram, which boomed in popularity thanks to her concise coverage of issues affecting Australians during the pandemic.

“News can be really overwhelming and I feel like it’s very easy to get lost in a whole bunch of information that is difficult to digest,” she says.

“If you’re able to drill that down for people it makes it a lot easier for them.”

Yet she also knows the power of stepping away from technology on occasion, and adds she finds her moments of calm when she is out riding her retired racehorse, Red.

“I’ve wanted a horse my whole life and I wasn’t going overseas for our 10-year wedding anniversary and I thought, ‘I’m going to buy this horse’. And it was the thing that got me through the pandemic,” Jacqui says.

“It’s a great escape and so good for my mental health.”

Jacqui Felgate’s first appearance on The House of Wellness TV show airs on Channel 7 on Friday, May 20, at 2pm and Sunday, May 22, at noon. Also look out for Jacqui in The House of Wellness winter magazine, available in Chemist Warehouse stores and with News Corp Australia papers from June 25.
