Laura Dundovic on health, beauty and her secret passion

Model and TV presenter Laura Dundovic is on the go from early morning until late at night, which means her beauty routine has to be simple and easy.

The down-to-earth Natural Instinct ambassador chats takes us through all things health, beauty and wellness – and her penchant for a belting out a tune.

How I start my day

After suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome as a teenager, Laura is now a big fan of getting eight hours of sleep.

And she says her body clock usually wakes her after exactly that amount of time.

“I find I really need eight hours these days,” says the striking former Miss Universe Australia.

“The first I do after waking is drink a big glass of water with lemon in it.

“Once we’re up, Quade (boyfriend and rugby union star Quade Cooper) and I take it in turns to make breakfast, which is usually oats, berries and almond milk or on the weekends, avocado or eggs on either rye or paleo bread.”

Morning beauty routine

The fresh-faced beauty, known for her glowing skin, says Natural Instinct Skin Refining Cleansing Oil is an important part of her morning routine.

“I always cleanse my face at the beginning and the end of each day,” she shares.

“I find the oil is gentle but gets off all of my makeup, even if I’ve been doing TV, which is quite heavy makeup, or out on a modelling shoot.”

The 32-year-old applies Vitamin C Camellia Oil, (“I love the way it brightens my skin”) and Dark Circle and Wrinkle Correction Eye Creme and she’s ready to head out the door.

“Well, except for sunscreen,” she says. “I’m a firm believer in sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!”

Each work day is different

“There is no normal with me in terms of my day,” Laura says.

“I did a movie last year (Aussie film Ruben Guthrie) and I’m doing some TV at the moment, it’s always different!

“In the morning I usually get stuck into business and do things like emails first up and then I’ll walk the dogs and head to the gym. I do a mix of weights and I love running.

“If I’m time poor I’ll do hypoxi (targeted low impact exercise) because I don’t work up a sweat and can quickly get to my appointments or work commitments.”

The beach enthusiast and travel lover, who has a degree in psychology, believes health and wellness is about mind and body.

“For me fitness is much more than just looking good in a bikini,” she says.

“I look at wellness as an all-over thing and my motivation is definitely to get the most out of life.

“I once had a neighbour who was in his 80s and was out in his boat every single day and he got so much more enjoyment out of his life than most 80-year-olds, and that’s what I aspire to!”

Laura’s end-of-day wind down

Laura picked up a love of cooking from mum, “the most amazing cook”.

“I truly believe homemade tastes best and I love to eat,” says Laura. “So I make sure that we eat the right things.”

After dinner, if there’s nothing on, she and Quade love nothing better than to curl up in front of a good TV show.

“We have such busy schedules that it’s great to be able to just kick back sometimes,” she says.

Evening skin care routine

The successful model reveals that every few nights she treats her skin to Natural Instinct’s Plump and Renew Serum.

“My skin just drinks up – it’s lovely to wake up the next morning and think, ‘why does my face feel so good?’ And then realise it’s because I’ve used the serum.”

One thing you might not know about Laura

The actress – whose debut feature film, Me and My Left Brain, will be released in 2019 – lets House of Wellness into a secret her friends know only too well.

She’s mad about karaoke.

“I remember the lyrics to every single song,” she grins.

“I’ve got the world’s worst voice but I love belting out a tune – I don’t think people know what to say when I get started.

“Kanye West is a favourite, I’m good with a bit of rap!”
