This is why Dr Nikki Goldstein went makeup free on TV

Highlighting the effects of social media perfection, this is how Dr Goldstein is raising awareness of the impact of self esteem on relationships.

Women are often given false expectations of what perfection is, and indeed, what is normal in “real” life.

As a woman who works in the media, I feel that we are sometimes to blame as we appear on TV and publish photos with so much work behind the scenes but flaunt this as our reality.

We are the same people that will talk about body confidence but do so with faces full of makeup, fake hair, fake tans and fake lashes.

This is why I have decided to go makeup free.

There is however another reason why I want to talk about body confidence and self-esteem and that is because I feel that it is something that really impacts relationships. It is something we are not talking about enough.

We need to be aware of how a compromised sense of self can impact a relationship. When we are aware we are able to flag it with our partner instead of going on thinking that whatever is happening is a relationship problem. It may be a small issue within the relationship but it’s made worse due to the interferences of insecurity.
