Think you need to improve your posture? We’ve road-tested a device to help you do just that, plus we’re giving you the chance to win one of your own!

Ever sat hunched over your laptop or craned your neck looking at your phone?

It can put severe strain on your back and neck and have significant health implications including neck and back pain and other aggravating conditions.

The Upright Go is a device to help train you to improve your posture, but does it work?

Here, we put it to the test, plus we’re giving you the chance to win one of three devices.

Tester’s report how it works

As a long-time sloucher with the back pain to prove it, I’m keen to try anything that may help improve my posture.

The Upright Go is like a mini posture personal trainer that constantly measures your posture.

The rechargeable device attaches to your upper back with a reusable silicone adhesive or is worn on a necklace accessory with a magnetic clasp so the device rests on your back.

It is linked to a smart phone app, which records your results as you wear it.

Once secured, simply sync to the app and set your device to your target posture.

It then takes you through training and tracking sessions, which record how often you slouch.

When you slouch the device gently vibrates, reminding you to sit (or stand) up straight and correct your alignment.

An on-screen avatar on the app also mirrors your posture, going red and slouching for a visual reminder.

The sessions gradually increase in length to help improve your posture awareness.

You also get daily reminders to track your posture as well as feedback after each session.

Our tester’s verdict

The vibration of the device is like a little annoying bee buzzing, so you soon learn to sit up straight while wearing it!

I was surprised just how much I slouched and found I was certainly more conscious of my posture as a result.

Tip: The Upright Go necklace attachment is a great optional add-on – it was easy to use and removed the need to use adhesive on my skin.
