Your supplement ingredient list matters. Here’s why

Natural remedies in supplements can help us live a balanced life, but how confident are you in telling the difference between natural and synthetic?

Whether we’re looking to de-stress, gain restful sleep or restore our gut biome, natural remedies have existed for thousands of years.

But finding natural remedies that are as natural as you would believe them to be can be tricky.

It’s not as simple as turning the label and looking at the ingredients list.

So what ingredients might you find inside your supplements?

Think of things like fillers and binders (used to bulk up size or hold your pill together), artificial colours, flavours and also preservatives.

According to research by Wanderlust1, the pioneering brand who promotes ingredient transparency through its own range of natural supplements, 61 per cent of people didn’t know about supplement manufacturers obligations when declaring non-active ingredients used to make products look or taste a certain way.

Also, 45 per cent of consumers rely on the product label to try and work out what’s in their supplements.

Another 54 per cent did their research online – but that information isn’t always going to give a full picture.

What to think about when choosing supplements

There are a few key factors to keep in mind when selecting a supplement, including what’s in it, whether you’d prefer liquid or tablet form, and whether the ingredient list has been explained in full.

Wanderlust is one of the few brands that offer naturally potent, 100 per cent vegan formulas, with minimal extracts.

They actively leave out ingredients.

With rapid absorption in mind, Wanderlust specialises in natural liquid herbal extracts.

These liquid herbal supplements are cold-pressed and contain no more than five ingredients, all of which are declared on the packaging.

That means no artificial flavours, colours or added animal ingredients.

The company’s vegan-friendly capsules also contain all the goodness of plant-powered actives – whether you’re looking for gut health supplements, energy boosters or something to help support stress.

Best of all, you can see ALL the ingredients inside the bottle listed on the packaging or website.

Other natural ways to improve your wellbeing

Of course, we all know by now that both regular physical activity and a healthy diet play an important role in promoting health and longevity2, and should be part of a holistic approach to wellness.

Studies have also highlighted the “extraordinary importance” of sleep3.

Further research commissioned by Wanderlust found for more than half of us (57 per cent), our quality of sleep has decreased in 2023, with financial pressures, too much screen time, caffeine, alcohol and relationship stresses the main contributing factors4.

Sleep is just one of the discussion points that Melissa Ambrosini and Nick Broadhurst will discuss as part ‘The Nine Pillars of Health’, at the Wanderlust True North events taking place in Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast during September.

With Xavier Rudd, Mick Fanning, and Allira Potter among the stellar line-up of talent, the True North events promise mindful movement, social impact and personal development.

Tickets are available at Wanderlust True North – the perfect way to connect with like-minded people from the healthy wellness community.
