Five things Elle Macpherson does for her body every day

Celebrating her enduring success, Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson shares her secrets to radiant health and beauty.

With her remarkable career now into its fifth decade, Aussie supermodel Elle Macpherson is still going strong.

Nicknamed “The Body” for good reason, the busy mother of two credits her passion for health and wellbeing as the reason she feels better than ever as she approaches 60.

“For me, wellness is the connection between physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wellbeing,” Elle says.

So what does Elle Macpherson do every day for her body?

Movement

Elle says she loves to do yoga or Zach Bush’s 4 Minute Workout in the morning sun “to get the nitric acid going”.

Her days also typically include a swim in the ocean, a long hike or a bike ride.

“I’m still very much the same active girl I once was growing up by the beach in Australia, however I am less structured and intense about it these days,” Elle says.

“It’s a joy to move my body and get out in nature because we thrive naturally when we live in alignment with the natural realm.”

Self-care

Elle has several self-care rituals to help look after and pamper herself, such as dry body brushing, which exfoliates for smooth, soft skin.

“I try to do it at least three times a week to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage and clear my system of any toxins,” she says.

Another of her favourite self-care rituals is taking an indulgent Cleopatra bath.

“All it takes is milk, honey, olive oil and flower petals for a smoothing royal treat,” Elle says.

“Given the skin is the body’s largest organ, this bath is an intelligent, swift way of absorbing nutrients.”

Mental health

Elle says she takes care of her mind, body and spirit every day with breath work, gratitude and mindfulness.

“It only takes 30 minutes in the morning or evening and you’ll be amazed at the changes you’ll witness in your capacity to let go of self-limiting habits that lie unnoticed in our cellular memory,” Elle says.

Nutrition

When she’s at home, Elle follows a plant-based diet and opts for organic, seasonal ingredients that are locally grown and handpicked from the Saturday farmer’s market.

“These days, food is very much a celebration of life. Sharing meals with friends also brings me great joy,” she says.

Elle enjoys a variety of soups, avocado toast, or oats or chia soaked in homemade almond milk.

She no longer looks at food in terms of “portions”.

“I nourish my body each and every day, always paying attention to my body’s needs,” she says.

“I do, however, find my body works best with intermittent fasting.”

Chill out

With such a busy schedule, it’s no surprise Elle prioritises her rest.

“For me, resting might mean sitting in my portable infrared sauna followed by a cold plunge in an ice bath,” she says.

She also likes to read or watch documentaries.

Begin within

When Elle turned 50, she realised she felt rundown and was struggling to sleep, so she sought the help of clinical naturopath, Dr Simone Laubscher PhD, who went on to create a potent nutritional greens powder for her.

After just a few weeks combining the greens with other lifestyle changes, Elle was feeling better than ever.

That nutritional greens powder went on to become what is now The Super Elixir — the product that inspired Elle to set up WelleCo.

Fast forward nearly a decade and WelleCo has an entire collection of plant-based beauty-through-wellness elixirs spanning skin, hair, body and mind health, which have received more than 35 beauty awards for innovation over the past eighteen months.
